Within the frame story of the dinner party, there is a lush variety of sub-stories, humorous, profound, and anecdotal. Among them is Diotima's story about love, which Socrates recounts. The story is a story, within a story, within another story. The key argument (in bold below) is that he who can perceive true beauty in one thing will start to see true beauty in all things.
